Steve Jobs, the “big man” of Apple, has resigned his position as Apple’s CEO in a letter to the Apple Board of Directors and to the Apple Community.

Jobs is not only a pancreatic cancer survivor but has also suffered from other health issues in the past few years and undergone a liver transplant in 2009. While he does not explicitly indicates his health problems as the exact cause for his resignation it can be assumed it is the most likely cause.

Quoting the letter, Jobs says “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”

While this means that Steve Jobs will no longer be Apple’s CEO it does not mean it’s the end of him as an Apple employee as he still wants to, and says it in the letter, to continue working at Apple. His successor will most likely be Tim Cook, employee at Apple for more than a decade now and at various positions, which whom Jobs refers to as his possible successor.

You can read the letter posted on Apple’s website here.
