AMD has just launched the HD 7800 Series of graphics cards, the Radeon HD 7850 and the Radeon HD 7870.

AMD has launched the Radeon HD 7850 and the Radeon HD 7870. These cards are aimed to the price conscious gamer that looks to buy a graphics card that can deliver a great performance in every game while not costing as much as the high end models usually reserved for hardcore enthusiasts. However, with this release, AMD priced this products higher than usual for this range of their family of GPUs meaning that this cards as of now won’t fit the so called “optimal price range”, the price range the majority of users look for when buying a new graphics card. Not everything is bad news though since these models offer a significant performance improvement from the previous generation being almost half faster in some cases. One interesting point to note is that the cards come very close to the HD 7900 series models which can mean that AMD is capping their high end products until the release of Nvidia’s Kepler.

Both of the cards use the new 28nm build process and as such boast a huge number of transistors, 2.8 billion of them. Both also come with 2GB of GDDR5 memory so that you don’t have to worry when using multiple monitor and/or very high resolutions.Check out the cards specifications below.

The cards should be available to purchase on March 19 with a price of 249 US Dollars for the Radeon HD 7850 and 349 US Dollars for the Radeon 7870.
